Excerpt: Patenting activity in the cannabis space has greatly increased over the past five years. It is projected that the cannabis industry will grow to a $57 billion industry by 2027. Many large companies have announced their intentions to break into the cannabis market. For example, Coca-Cola is in talks with Aurora Cannabis to develop drinks infused with cannabidiol (CBD). Heineken beer recently launched Hi-Fi Hops, a beer-flavored sparkling water infused with CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
