Before joining Caldwell, Dresser worked at several technology companies, where he grew and managed patent portfolios across cutting-edge sectors. He contributed to the development and patent protection of groundbreaking technologies, including augmented reality hardware developed by a NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory team, advanced medical laser systems from Massachusetts General Hospital, and an innovative dental laser for cavity treatment, which he co-invented and developed.

Since joining Caldwell, Dresser has consistently had responsibility for overseeing patent assets of numerous companies including many “unicorns,” growth stage companies with valuations over $1B. Dresser has strategically directed the growth of patent portfolios from a handful of assets to hundreds of patent families and thousands of patent assets. His expertise spans a wide range of industries, including autonomous vehicles, commercial and vertical flight aircraft, medical devices (e.g., cardiology, dermatology, and dentistry), artificial intelligence, digital pathology, photonics, lasers, and augmented reality. Dresser focuses on preparing patents with likely future market value, while limiting the time burden of patent examination on his client’s key employees and inventors.

Dresser’s contributions to technology are substantial, with over 200 patents and published patent applications to his name. He holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Dresser’s J.D. is from UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law, where he ranked in the top decile of his class and his legal training focused on intellectual property, technology, and information law.
