Overview
Nicholas Holmes is the Director of Trademarks at Caldwell. His practice focuses on developing, defending, and enforcing domestic and foreign trademark portfolios, with an eye toward monetization. He has provided advice to companies in a variety of industries including Digital Media and Entertainment, Cleantech, Consumer Technologies, Retail and Games. Nicholas understands that the impact of a brand does not begin and end with just a trademark registration, and provides comprehensive analysis of a client’s IP portfolio and how to position them for success.

Experience
Prior to joining the firm, Nicholas worked at a boutique Intellectual Property law firm in Hartford, CT as an associate attorney with a focus on trademark prosecution, litigation and branding for both domestic and foreign clients from start-ups to large corporations. At this previous firm, Nicholas handled trademark opposition matters at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and second chaired a trademark appeals case at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Nicholas earned his J.D. from Suffolk University in Boston with a focus on Intellectual Property, where he graduated Cum Laude. While at Suffolk, Nicholas was a member of the Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Clinic where he provided strategic advice and counseling for clients and their IP portfolios. Before law school, Nicholas received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Delaware with a minor in Business Administration. In his spare time, Nicholas enjoys playing golf, finding new recipes to add to his recipe box, and watching reality television with his fiancée and cat.
